Product Details

One of the most popular Indian sandstone sealers in the UK

This subtle sandstone sealer has been specially formulated for sealing Indian sandstone patios and pavers. Indian Sandstone Sealer & Colour Intensifier is also suitable for other sandstones such as York sandstone, it can be used on internal floors. Exceptionally easy to apply and will create a subtle colour enriched matt finish. We highly recommend this product as an Indian stone sealer for external pavers and slabs. The sealer is water based, low odour and rapid drying. Indian sandstone often contains a large amount of colour which can be highlighted and subtly intensified. By using Floorseal Indian Sandstone Sealer & Colour Intensifier the natural colour contained within the stone will be enhanced. Indian Sandstone Sealer & Colour Intensifier seals the surface but is 100% breathable. The colour enhancing element of this sealer improves the appearance of the stone, whilst the impregnating element seals the surface.

Enhances all common Indian sandstone paving with deeper colours and a matt protective finish

This Indian sandstone sealers primary purpose is to enhance the natural appearance of the sandstone. It is not designed to make sandstone seem shiny or unnatural. The best way to describe this sandstone sealer is that deepens colour but dries to a subtle natural matt finish. If you like the appearance of Indian sandstone when it is slightly damp, this sealer would be the correct sealant to choose. Indian Sandstone Sealer & Colour Intensifier will slightly increase the depth of colour, highlighting the warmer tones, veining and natural shading. As this sandstone sealer is 100% breathable you will not experience any issue with trapped moisture. The sealer can be applied straight after new pavers are laid. It will never require stripping as it is not a surface coating which can become worn. Indian sandstone is very porous so readily accepts this form of impregnating sealer. The sealer has been developed to penetrate the surface quickly, easily and evenly. Apply the sealer and remove any excess product after approximately 20 – 30 minutes. After 40 minutes to an hour have elapsed since the first application you can now apply more product. You will not use as much product during this second application – remove any excess as before. A few microfibre cloths are useful for this purpose. Once sealed the attractive enhanced matt finish inhibits water and oil-based staining. It will also help to prevent efflorescence, moss, algae, and black spot on external surfaces. Indian Sandstone Sealer & Colour Intensifier creates a surface tension that reduces the need for regular maintenance. This is our most popular sandstone sealer due to its natural appearance, low odour and ease of application.

In particular Patio Black Spot Remover Plus will remove any black spot lichen infestations. Once all the organic contaminants and grime have been removed the sealer will work to maximum effect. Floorseal Sealer Residue Remover is an eco friendly non-acidic cleaner which removes dirt, grime, waxes, oils and light grout/cement/grout haze contaminations. It will also remove the invisible resinous non-porous film left by brush in compounds. We recommend pre-cleaning slabs with this product if you have used brush in compounds. Floorseal Cement & Grout Haze Remover is a traditional acidic based cleaning solution for the removal of cement & grout hazes. It is suited to removing heavier contaminations of traditional cement pointing. Indian sandstone is very porous so readily accepts impregnating sealers. This sandstone sealing product has been developed to penetrate the surface quickly, easily and evenly. One application is usually sufficient for most sandstones. For very porous sandstone you may wish to repeat the process approximately 40 minutes after the first. You will not use as much product on any subsequent application. Once sealed the attractive enhanced matt finish inhibits water and oil based staining. It will also help to prevent efflorescence, moss, algae, and black spot on external surfaces. Frequently Asked Questions

How do you apply Indian Sandstone Sealer & Colour Intensifier?

The easiest way is with a low pressure sprayer. You can also use a roller, paint pad or brush if you prefer.

Remove the excess with microfibre cloths. The excess may only be seen in the low areas in the stone.

Please read our blog article about sealing sandstone patios, click here.

Will my Indian sandstone be able to breathe after applying your product?

Yes, this product allows moisture vapour transmission.

I need to remove black spot on my sandstone pavers before sealing, what do I use?

Use our Patio Black Spot Remover Plus prior to sealing it will remove black spot lichens.

Does this product leave a matt or shiny finish?

It will be a matt, natural finish as the product is meshed into the surface of the stone. It also intensifies the natural colour contained within sandstone. Similar to dampening the stone, bringing out any natural colour but with a natural matt finish.

Do you have other finishes for sandstone?

Yes, you could use a simple dry finish impregnator called Floorseal Natural Stone Sealer Breathe. It is again, a breathable impregnator but does not alter the appearance of the stone. This product is ideal when sealing Kandla Grey or plain grey sawn sandstones.

What is the difference between this sealer and a wet look sealer?

Indian Sandstone Sealer & Colour Intensifier is a subtle matt finish colour enhancer. It is also a fully breathable sealer.

A sealer described as a ‘wet look’ sealer is a form of sealer which may darken stone as a by-product. They will usually leave a satin finish as they are a surface sealer.

Can I use this sealer on an internal sandstone floor?

Yes it can be used on internal floors. You may also wish consider Floorseal Stone & Tile Sealer Satin as it is specifically for internal floors.

What is the coverage of this sandstone sealer?

Approximately 8m2 per litre for the first application and 16m2 for the 2nd application.

Can I apply this product to a newly laid patio?

Yes its breathable, so the sealer will let vapour travel up & out from within the stone.

Is this sealer more suited to one form of sandstone to another?

Yes it works best on the more colourful sandstones – the more interest there is in the stone the better it works.

To highlight, enhance or intensify colour it needs to be present in the first place. The sealer is just giving the colour a ‘push’ to make it a little more noticeable.

Colour can just be in the form of a warm red/creamy tone -this can be intensified.

I wish to clean my sandstone, what product should I use?

For the removal of Black Spot Lichens, dirt and general organic contaminations on external stone use Floorseal Patio Black Spot Remover Plus.

Use Floorseal Sealer Residue Remover for the removal of general dirt, grime & light cement/grout haze removal.

It is a non acidic cleaner which can be diluted to suit local conditions. It will tackle light contaminations of brush in compounds. Brush in compounds can leave a resinous invisible ‘slick’ either side of the joint.

Can I use this product on Kandla Grey or plain grey sawn sandstones?

Yes, it will seal both these types of sandstone but you will not be able to colour enhance them. This is because there is little colour contained within the stone.

We believe Kandla Greys and sawn plain grey sandstones are best sealed with Natural Stone Sealer Breathe. This product will seal the stone but does not alter surface colour at all.

We have written an article about sealing Kandla Grey and plain sandstones please Click Here.

This product is to be applied 'wet on wet', what does this mean?

It simply means you apply the product once and remove any excess after 20-30 minutes. Then apply again, approximately 40 minutes to an hour after the first application.

This timing does not have to be exact. But the 2nd application should be carried out on the same day as the first. If you delay the 2nd application to a few days after the first, the initial application will already have cured.

Even if the pavers are a little damp from the first application its fine to carry out the 2nd.

After lots of research and speaking to floor seal I opted for this product. Amazing results. The patio was laid at the end of last summer so didn’t have time to seal immediately due to the weather. The colour brought out in the stones is amazing. I would recommend this product. The instructions were easy to follow. I

  8. Mark Burgham

Spoke to Graham what a gentleman put me right to what i needed indian sandstone sealer brilliant over the moon would recommend this product 5stars

  9. Scotty Robson

My Indian sandstone patio was laid about 5-6 years ago, and it has had a number of pressure washes during that time, but it was looking dull and dirty and full of black spot, which pressure washing alone doesn’t shift. I found Floorseal and thought I’d give it a go.

For a start, Graeme at Floorseal was super helpful with what I needed in terms of products and what quantity I should buy, and he was full of help and advice on the application of the products too. And the products are delivered by Fedex next day when purchased direct from Floorseal.

I started off with the Black Spot Remover which is an amazing product, which is an amazing product – I’ve reviewed this one too.

The Indian Sandstone Sealer & Colour Intensifier itself was so easy to use and worked as expected. I used a low pressure sprayer to apply (about £10 from Amazon), which was super easy and the product did exactly as described. The first application went on making the stones look wet and where excess product had accumulated in the dips (it’s easy to see as it looks a milky white), this was mopped up using a microfiber cloth after about 20-30 minutes. The second coat about an hour later took a lot less product, as expected, although I did put a bit too much down on the first few stones until I realised what was going on – but it wasn’t a problem, I just had more excess to mop up.

I had 2x 5L tubs for about 50 sq m of patio and had about a litre left when finished the second application. I’m sure I could’ve used less product, but as this was the first time I’ve used it, I aired on the side of caution and applied more than I needed, as it was easy enough to mop up the excess.

I chose a day that had a dry forecast for the following 24-hrs, as directed, and the next day, it looked great. I’m so happy with the finish and it’s brought my 5-6 year old patio back to life. I can’t recommend Floorseal’s products and company more. Thank you Floorseal.
