If you have deep cleaned your floor prior to sealing, we recommend at least 24 hours drying time (preferably more) before any sealing takes place. Please extend the drying time on new floors or very porous floors. Local conditions will dictate the drying time i.e. air temperature and time of year. It is imperative that the floor is dry before any sealing takes place. When applied, this stone & tile sealer will enhance colours and create an attractive subtle satin finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kind of finish does Floorseal Stone & Tile Sealer Satin produce?

It builds to a satin finish, which slightly enhances natural colour. This may be deepening the colour of slate, highlighting vaining in sandstone or darkening the colour of clay-based tiles.

  • How quickly does Stone & Tile Sealer Satin take to dry?

It can be touch dry within an hour. You can apply a 2nd coat after this time. The sealer will fully cure in approximately 24 hours.

The drying & curing rate will be effected by local conditions and general air temperature. This sealer usually dries very quickly indeed.

  • What is the best method to apply this product?

We recommend either a microfibre flat mop, paint pad or a microfibre cloth, soaked in sealer.  You can cut in along the edges with a brush or a microfibre cloth.

It is imperative to apply the product in thin coats, we have found that microfibre cloths produce the best finish.

  • How does this sealer deepen colour?

The product is a thin watery liquid which does not contain pigment. It penetrates the surface and naturally deepens colour from within. This is most obvious on earthy darker coloured clay-based tiles, slates and sandstones. A liitle like oiling wood – as long as the surface is porous and contains some natural colour it can usually be enhanced in a subtle way.

  • Can this product be applied to slate?

Yes, make sure the surface is free of previous sealers and apply in 2 or more coats.

  • Does this product have a strong odour?

No, it is water based, so low odour. It does not contain solvents or VOCs.

No, it is not to be used as a pre-sealer. We recommend using Floorseal Natural Stone Sealer Breathe if you wish to pre-seal.

  • Can I apply this sealer to historic floors like Victorian geometric tiles, Victorian quarry tile, mosaics or clay tiles?

Yes this product is suitable for old floors. Apply in thin coats to seal & deepen or improve colour.
