Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kind of finish does this colour restorer for tarmac create?

Tarmac Restorer for Driveways is designed to soak into the surface, leaving the treated surface with a totally natural but colour-restored appearance. This product’s purpose is to recreate the look of a newly laid tarmac.

  • What is the lifespan of this Tarmac Restorer for Driveways?

You can re-coat your tarmac each year, but this product is expected to last between 3-5 years.

  • How many coats of Tarmac Restorer for Driveways should I apply.

This product requires 2 coats of sealer which should be applied approximately 2-3 hours apart.

  • What sort of weather conditions do I need to successfully apply the tarmac restorer?

Dry conditions, with air temperatures above 10ºC. Ideally, the tarmac should have been dry for 48 hours before application of the sealer, with no rain predicted in the following 24 hours.

  • Do I need to carry out any preparation work before sealing my tarmac with this product?

If it is an older worn tarmac we recommend lightly pressure washing and removing loose material. Pre-treating with Floorseal Green Remover Concentrate is advisable to inhibit new organic growth. This should be carried out a number of days before sealing work is undertaken.

  • What is the coverage rate of this product?

2-3 m2 per litre (accounting for the application of 2 coats).

    A 20-litre container will cover between 40m2 & 60m2 of tarmac.

Rough worn tarmacs will require more product than a smooth new tarmac.

  • How long do I have to wait before parking my car on a newly restored driveway?

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours before parking a car on the driveway.

  • What are your top tips for successfully colour restoring tarmac?
    • Clean the surface of loose gravel, dirt & moss.
    • Apply Green Remover Concentrate to inhibit the regrowth of organic contaminations.
    • Carry out cleaning work and the removal of moss etc a number of days before sealing.
    • Only apply sealer in dry conditions.
    • Apply thin coats of sealer – do not leave puddles and pools.
    • Do not park a vehicle on newly restored tarmac for at least 24 hours.
