Slate Sealer creates a satin finish to exterior or interior tiles which also deepens colour. Slate sealer is easy to apply in two thin coats (or more on interior surfaces) with a microfibre cloth, roller, paint pad or flat mop. This water-based low odour sealer easily seals porous natural slate flooring, walls, tables and hearths.
Suitable for use to seal and deepen the colour of natural slate leaving an attractive enhanced satin finish. Slate is a porous but quite a dense natural stone which appears most attractive when sealed with a product which can enhance surface colours. The sealer will resist water & oil-based staining and inhibits organic stains and growth.
Apply to your slate in two consecutive thin coats to leaving an attractive enhanced finish. This sealer is a water-based sealer which dries rapidly and is low odour.
Slate Sealer will slightly deepen surface colours similar to dampening with a small amount of water. This slate sealer produces a satin finish when applied correctly in 2 thin coats on exterior surfaces. You may apply up to 4 coats on interior slate floors.
This water-based sealer is an opaque liquid which penetrates the surface of the slate creating an attractive finish. The sealer does not contain a pigment or dyes, it seals in a subtle understated way creating a colour enhanced sheen. The key to applying this product correctly is to apply in nice thin coats in dry conditions. If the sealer is applied with a sprayer we strongly recommend spreading the product out into thin coats using a flat microfibre mop or cloth. Do not allow the product to puddle, it must be evenly applied to the stone to produce the best finish.
We have various cleaning products to pre-clean or maintain the surface of your slate.

Slate Sealer can be applied to internal or external surfaces.
Yes, this product will slightly deepen surface colour and create a subtle satin sheen on slate which is in good condition.
Around 15m2 per litre. Please remember you will be applying 2 – 4 thin coats. As an idea we think you should be able to fully seal approximately 40m2+ per 5 litre container. Please be aware some slates are more (or less) porous than others!
Yes, it is water based, low odour and dries quickly.
This product will deepen surface colours and leave a sheen. It does not produce a glossy finish or totally replicate the effect of wetting with water. Its purpose is to product a more natural subtle finish with a sheen. If your slate is in good condition and a darker grey/blue shade, or if its an Indian or Chinese slate this product will deepen its colour. Test before use to gauge the finish you will achieve.
If your slate is faded or has a particularly washed out pastel appearance you may be interested in Floorseal Flagstone Sealer. This product is more likely to deepen the colour of badly worn/faded slate (and has a silk finish).
It soaks into the surface with some product drying on the surface to produce a sheen. The sealer should be built-up in a minimum of 2 thin coats. Distribute evenly, the optimal finish is produced by applying this product in thin coats, do not allow the product to pool or puddle.
You can clean your floor with Floorseal Stone Floor Cleaner to remove general dirt, grime, wax, and certain old water-based sealers. You should use Floorseal Cement & Grout Haze Remover to remove cement-based grout hazes.
Always rinse the surface heavily with clean water after using any cleaning solution. Allow the floor to become totally dry before sealing.
It will capture some of that appearance, but be aware no sealer totally replicates the effect of wetting a natural stone with water. If the slate is in good condition this product will deepen the colour of the tile leaving a low sheen finish. If your slate is badly faded you could also test Floorseal Flagstone Sealer.
Yes, only apply this product to a totally dry surface. Do not apply to damp floors, you should never clean & seal a slate floor on the same day. Allow approximately 14 days after fixing an interior floor before sealing. Allow an exterior slate patio a minimum of 4-8 weeks drying/settlement before sealing.
Apply in 2 thin coats (on exterior surfaces) 60-90 minutes apart. Do not apply in thick coats, it does not necessarily mean the stone will become a deeper colour or become super shiny! It usually leads to an overbuild of product and a sub-optimal finish. 4 thin coats are usually the maximum number of coats you will require on an interior floor.
This product is water-based so relatively low odour.
Usually within an hour – light traffic only for the first 24 hours.
No, you cannot use this product in a wet room or shower cubicle. You would need to use an impregnating sealer such as Floorseal Premium Impregnating Sealer.
If your slate is in poor condition you may be interested in Floorseal Flagstone Sealer. This product will cope with a faded surface as it has the potential to darken slate to a greater degree than most other sealers.
