What is Floorseal Green Remover Concentrate used for?

Black Spot Remover for Patios

How to dilute Green Remover Concentrate

This product is typically diluted at 1:5 with clean water. The easiest method being application through pump-up sprayer. Mix one part concentrate to 5 parts water i.e. 1 litre of product to 5 litres of water. We recommend adding the water to the sprayer first, then adding the concentrate to reduce foaming.

For heavy contaminations of organic matter on patios, block pavers roofs & tarmac use a stronger concentration of product diluted at 1:3.

One the product is diluted at the optimal dilution rate, you are ready to apply.

You can also apply this product with a watering can fitted with a sprinkler rose.

The best way to apply Green Remover Concentrate

Liberally spray the contaminated surface with the Green Remover Concentrate solution allowing it to naturally dry. The contaminations will naturally absorb the cleaning solution, dying away over the following days, weeks & months.

You will notice some contaminations will disappear in days, some thicker clumps of material turn brown and slowly die over a few weeks. You will be able to carefully scrape thicker debris away. A stiff brush can be used to remove debris or lightly pressure washing. In more awkward areas you can leave contaminations to wither & naturally break down over time.

A simple low-pressure pump-up sprayer is a the best method of application. Or you may wish to apply with a watering can on horizontal surfaces.

What is the coverage rate of Green Remover Concentrate?

Green Remover Concentrate should be applied at approximately 1 litre of product to 5m2 of surface area. This rate is based on the solution already being diluted.

As an example a 5 litre container diluted at 1:5 would produce 30 litres of ready to use solution (RTU) with a max coverage rate of 150m². We are a little more conservative than this on coverage rates noted on the containers. You should comfortably be able to treat 130m2 from one 5 litre container.

We appreciate it is difficult to assess the exact surface area you will be working on. As a rule of thumb – try to liberally apply the product, so the surface is fully saturated.

What kind of weather conditions are required for successful application?

Ideally dry weather with no rain predicted for 12 hours. The ground may be a little damp but not very wet. The best advice is to avoid application in the rain/wet conditions. Do not apply if it is likely to rain during, or just following application. The product needs time to penetrate the surface/contamination & dry.

What is the best time of year to apply this product?

Any time of year, providing it is not likely to rain within 12 hours of application!

Do I need to rise this product after use?

Do not rinse this product away after use – the product should be allowed to dry into the surface (and contamination). This product is an easy to use spray & leave solution.

How long does Green Remover Concentrate take to work?

It will vary depending on the contamination and how long it has been forming for. On green algae it will work in days, on thick clumps of green organic matter, in a few weeks. But the product will be active for months.

How long will Green Remover Concentrate work for after it is applied?

The solution has a residual effect with a long term cleaning action. In other words it keeps working for days, weeks and months. The lifespan of the product, once applied, is approximately 12 months. You can apply again within this time if the contamination is particularly resistant or in thick clumps. Or as part of a general maintenance program.

Top tips for successful application

  • Use a dilution rate of 1:5 for general use or 1:3 for severe contaminations.
  • Apply 1 litre of RTU (ready to use solution) to no more than 5m² of surface area.
  • Liberally apply the product do not just ‘mist over’ you should saturate the surface.
  • Do not patch treat contaminations, spray the whole area as the surface will become cleaner with time.
  • Only apply when rain is not imminent & do not rise away after use.
  •

What kind of surfaces can I apply Green Remover Concentrate to?

This product treats a variety of surfaces –

  • Clay, natural stone or concrete roof tiles.
  • Lead, general metal or zinc roofs.
  • Natural stone or man-made patio’s.
  • Block pavers.
  • Tarmac.
  • Tennis courts.
  • Renders.
  • General concrete & masonry.
  • Gravel.
  • Wood fences, decking, sheds or garden rooms.

Does Green Remover Concentrate affect plants & is it pet safe?

This product is not a general weed killer, so can be used around plants beds & lawns. Whilst we do not recommend spraying it directly onto a lawn or plant bed, it is successfully used around patios/gardens/lawns/plant beds without issue.

As with all cleaning agents, whilst you are working, you should not allow your pet into the work area whilst the product is in use/wet. Once dry, the area is safe for use by pets etc.

Using Green Remover Concentrate for general maintenance cleaning

Green Remover Concentrate can be applied as a primary cleaning agent, to remove organic growth. But also applied after using one of one of our other cleaning/sealing products for general maintenance.

As an example Green Remover Concentrate can be applied as a follow-on treatment after the removal of black spot lichen with Floorseal Black Spot Remover Plus.

Spraying your surface once or twice per year keeps it free from organic growth & prevent black spot lichens germinating/appearing.
