What is the best patio cleaner?
We believe Floorseal Patio Cleaner Plus is the best patio cleaner for the removal of general dirt & organic contaminations.
Patio Cleaner Plus is easy to use, no particular skill is required to use this product. You can intensively clean your patio without the use of a pressure washer.
An application of this product, with a short dwell time, will remove most organic contaminations quickly and easily.
How do I apply Floorseal Patio Cleaner Plus?
This cleaning solution is typically diluted 1:1 with water (one part product to one part water). Lightly wet the surface with water first, this can be carried out via a hose pipe or watering can. Then apply the Patio Cleaner Plus diluted at 1:1 with water via a plastic watering can (or simple pump-up garden sprayer).
Keep the product distinctly wet on the surface for a period of time (by adding more product) – this is known as dwell time. The dwell time should be approximately 15 minutes, you can extend this time for up to one hour (or more) if required.
Once you notice the contaminations disappearing wash the product away with liberal amounts of clean water.
Do I need to use a pressure washer?
You do not need a pressure washer when using Patio Cleaner Plus. But if you have a pressure washer you can either use to pressure wash the surface first, apply the product and rinse away as normal. Or apply the product first, then use your pressure washer to (lightly) rinse away the cleaner. You can finish the whole process by pressure washing the surface if you wish.
There is no specific requirement to pressure wash but you can use Patio Cleaner Plus alongside pressure washing, or as part of the process.
We do not recommend feeding the solution directly through the pressure washer as a solution additive. Additives are generally drawn directly through the machine. By doing so you will negate the effect of dwell time, which is important when using this type of deep cleaning product.
How important is the dwell time when using this product?
Dwell time is the most useful tool when using this type of patio cleaner. The longer the product is wet on the surface the better it works! Once applied leave to dwell, do not allow the solution to dry out during the dwell time. Use a dwell time of 15 mins to 1 hour, please adjust this timing to suit your patio’s condition.
To keep the surface wet apply more product or very lightly mist with water. Using more product as a wetting agent is preferable as you will not lose the strength of the product by over diluting the solution.
What kind of contaminations will Patio Cleaner Plus remove?
Patio Cleaner Plus will remove organic contaminations including black spot lichen, algae, slimes, fungi, and leaf staining. This product will also remove general dirt & grime as part of the cleaning process.
Which kind of surfaces can I apply Patio Cleaner Plus to?
This patio cleaning fluid can be applied to sandstone, limestone, block pavers, clay tiles, brick, basalt, porcelain, cement-based materials, flagstones & concrete.
We recommend carrying out a test patch!
Work in 20m2 sections on larger patios, it is easier than attempting to clean an entire patio at once. Patience is the key to fully removing heavy organic contaminations. Once familiar with this product you will be able to successfully adapt the dilution rates and dwell time to suit your particular requirements.
What kind of coverage rate will I achieve when using Patio Cleaner Plus?
5 Litres covers up to 40m2 when diluted 1:1 with clean water. Always be prepared to adjust the coverage rate due to the level of contamination encountered, type of material and the porosity of the material being treated.
Will Patio Cleaner Plus affect lawns or bedding plants?
This a question commonly asked before purchasing any kind of patio cleaner!
When used correctly, with care there is no issue. Most patios are adjacent to grass or plant beds, we assume you will be working around lawns etc with this product. The cleaner is biodegradable and is neutralised by rinsing with water.
Our top tip is to wet out the edges of lawns or plant beds with water as you dampen the patio prior to cleaning. Once the process is finished you should liberally rinse off the area with clean water. The product is biodegradable and importantly is not specifically a weed killer. It is the method of use – dwell time etc which makes the product work as it should. Neutralisation of the product occurs via the rinsing process.
