Product Details

Natural looking matt effect sealer for natural stone slabs, pavers and tiles

Natural Stone Colour Enhancer seals & colour enhances natural stone & tiles leaving a natural matt finish. This natural stone sealer is suitable for sandstone, slate, limestones, block pavers and other porous surfaces. It can be applied to interior and exterior surfaces where a breathable, natural but enhanced appearance is desirable. This product is an impregnating solution which becomes meshed into the pores of the stone. Once dry, the surface becomes resistant to water and oil-based staining. The solution also contains a secondary element which deepens natural colour. It is highly suited to sealing colourful stone like Indian sandstone and York sandstone slabs. Natural Stone Colour Enhancer will also seal & deepen the colour of slate, grey limestone and clay pavers. Natural Stone Colour Enhancer can be applied to any porous surface which appears more attractive when surface colours are deepened.  A little like being very slightly damp but without a shine, thus preserving a more natural appearance.

Reduce maintenance by sealing out dirt, grime and organic deposits

When applied to external surfaces this natural stone sealer will inhibit organic growth like moss, algae & black spot lichens. Its application reduces the need for maintenance. You will still be able to jet wash the surface and apply periodic cleaning solutions. To apply this product we recommend using a pump up sprayer, masonry style textured roller or brushes in conjunction with microfibre cloths. Use microfibre cloths to remove any excess product. Natural Stone Colour Enhancer should be applied to saturation, we recommend working in managable sections. Excess sealer (you may see some) should be removed within 20 – 30 minutes, possibly longer on cooler days. This product is an impregnator so will become meshed into the surface, it is not to be allowed to dry on the surface. The excess is usually located in the low areas of the stone and can easily be removed with a dry cloth or dry roller.

We also stock a range of cleaners for internal and external natural stone floors. These can be used to remove grout haze, dirt, grime, black spot lichens and moss. Floorseal Sealer Residue Remover is a water-based cleaning solution for the removal of dirt grime, oils & waxes. We recommend using this product as a pre-cleaner if you have used a brush in compound (for exterior surfaces). It removes the resinous slick either side of the joint which makes the surface non-porous. It is not for the removal of compounds where mistakes have been made i.e. obvious staining and heavy contaminations. Floorseal Patio Black Spot Remover Plus is for removing black spot lichens from external surfaces. It will also remove all other organic contaminations. Floorseal Stone Floor Cleaner for deep cleaning internal surfaces prior to sealing. Floorseal Cement & Grout Haze Remover for the removal of cement based pointing and grouts for internal and external surfaces (not to be used on acid sensitive surfaces like limestone).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Natural Stone Colour Enhancer suitable as a patio sealer?

It is highly suited to seal natural stone patios as it will enhance veining and colour. It can be used on Indian sandstone, York sandstones or any surface which looks more attractive when surface colours become deeper. It will enhance variation in veining and general shading.

What kind of finish does this product produce on sandstone?

On sandstone, a colour enriched matt finish, a little like dampening the stone but without the associated shine.

Does the stone have to be dry to apply this product?

Yes, the stone has to be perfectly dry and remain so during the curing time.

Why do you remove the excess product from the stone?

It is because this product is a form of impregnator. This sealer becomes meshed into the surface of the stone. Any excess product is not required when the stone is saturated, therefore it should be removed.

How do you apply the product?

Using a sprayer, masonry style roller or paint pad in conjunction with microfibre cloths to remove the excess. 2 consecutive applications should be made ‘wet on wet’ approximately one hour apart.

Always remove any excess product after 10 – 30 minutes after each application.

How long does this stone sealer take to dry?

In 2 hours (or less) the stone will be touch dry, the curing time is 24 hours.

Why should I carry out a test patch when using a sealer?

Sealers can look different once dry & cured. Its worth testing any sealer in an inconspicuous area to check you obtain the result you would like.

Can I use this product in a wet room?

No, we do not recommend sealing wet rooms or bathrooms with this product.

If you are sealing natural stone in a wet room we recommend using Floorseal Natural Stone Sealer Breathe.

Can I use this sealer on an internal floor?

Yes, it is suitable for most internal floors such as living areas, hallways, walls or kitchens.

What should I pre-clean my external surface with?

Yes we would recommend pre-cleaning. Always make sure the surface to be treated is dry before application and stays dry during curing.

For pre-cleaning external surfaces you can use Floorseal Sealer Residue Remover, it will remove dirt, grime & light cement/grout hazes.

We recommend pre-cleaning with Sealer Residue Remover particularly when you have used a brush in compound.

For removal of black spot lichens or nay organic staining on external surfaces use Floorseal Patio Black Spot Remover Plus.

Use Floorseal Cement & Grout Haze Remover to remove cement staining or cement based cement based grout hazes.

What is the coverage rate of this product?

Approximately 8m2 per litre for the first application and 16m2 per litre for the 2nd application. Carry out both applications on the same day approximately an hour apart.

Is this product breathable?

Yes, it is a fully breathable impregnating sealer, it can be applied soon after a floor is laid. It does not trap moisture.

Does Natural Stone Colour Enhancer create a sheen or a shine?

No, it is an impregnator so dries to a totally natural matt, colour enhanced finish.

Can I apply this product to Kandla Grey sandstone or plain grey sawn sandstones?

Yes, but it will not enhance any stone which does not contain any obvious natural colour.

We recommend sealing Kandla Grey with Natural Stone Sealer Breathe – this product also seals against water & oil-based staining without a colour enhancing element.

What should I clean my internal surface with before sealing?

Use Floorseal Stone Floor Cleaner to remove general grime and dirt. Always rinse heavily after use and allow the floor to fully dry.

Floorseal Cement & Grout Haze Remover will remove cement staining and cement based grout haze.

Can I clean and seal a stone floor on the same day?

We do not recommend cleaning and sealing on the same day. Wait at least 24 hours after cleaning before sealing natural stone. You may need to wait longer than 24 hours before sealing. Never try to seal a damp floor.

Can I use Natural Stone Colour Enhancer as a pre-sealing prior to grouting or pointing?

We do not recommend using this product as a pre-sealer – we would recommend using Floorseal Natural Stone Sealer Breathe. Contact us for advice about pre-sealing when thinking of using a colour enhancer they need to be applied to a fully porous, clean and untreated stone or tile. If the stone has been treated before it may be porous again so ready to be sealed again.

Why do subtle colour enhancers work best on colourful sandstones?

Slightly colour enhancing sandstones simply enhances the colour which is already present within the stone. The sandstone will still look totally natural but with slightly increased colour. If you over colour enhance sandstones they can become dark or patchy.
